Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Lab Assistant to join our Microbiology team in Tulsa, OK at Hillcrest Medical Center. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

• Promote professionalism and maintain a cooperative working environment.
• Obtain specimens following laboratory guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with care providers regarding patient data or sample information.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Follow procedural directions, prioritize workload, and assist coworkers to ensure productivity.
• Handle specimen packaging, transport, patient registration, lab test ordering, processing, and distribution.
• Practice proper infection control, patient identification, and specimen transport.
• Perform drug screen collection and processing as required.
• Manage laboratory department phone calls and assign phlebotomists for specimen collection.
• Perform courier duties, recognize emergent conditions, and provide phlebotomy services professionally.
• Engage in self-evaluation, maintain accountability for quality care, and promote service excellence.
• Conduct laboratory tests following protocols and assist in preparing/testing lab equipment.
• Support other laboratory personnel and carry out additional assigned duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills and strong customer service abilities.
• Preferred certifications as a phlebotomist and medical lab assistant, with clinical experience desirable.
