Engineer 1

Job Description

The Engineer, Level 1, at Courtyard Fort Lauderdale is responsible for maintaining the property in optimal condition with minimal disruption to customers and employees. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks on equipment, facilities, and systems to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Make repairs to the hotel air conditioning system, change filters, clean coils, and replace motors.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as boilers, chillers, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Take readings on equipment, test cooling towers, and maintain records.
• Replace and program televisions, light switches, receptacles, and fixtures.
• Conduct furniture repairs, replace and repair pumps, and troubleshoot plumbing issues.
• Read blueprints and wiring diagrams, trace and repair water lines, troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
• Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records, ensure work compliance with codes, and perform swimming pool maintenance.
• Undertake painting, sheet rock, wall covering repairs, and program electronic lock systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, experience in a hotel or related field.
• One year of progressive hotel experience preferred, trade school or College coursework helpful.
• Flexibility for long hours occasionally, ability to communicate effectively with employees and guests.
• Physical ability for heavy work and multitasking, while maintaining a service-oriented approach.
• Attendance at hotel meetings and training sessions, adherence to Highgate Hotel Standards.
• Maintain high appearance and grooming standards, comply with regulations, promote safe operations.
• Maximize productivity, handle problems efficiently, cross-train, maintain confidentiality of information.
• Initiative in anticipating needs, understanding and applying complex information, show willingness to perform other duties.
