Accounting Department Manager

Job Description

California Institute of Integral Studies is looking for a skilled Accounting Department Manager to join our team in San Francisco, CA. Reporting to the Controller, you will oversee a team of accountants, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions to support the University's activities. This role involves managing general accounting functions, conducting reconciliations, and supporting financial processes across departments.

Responsibilities

• Direct collaboration with the Finance and Administration Division Controller and CFO.
• Supervise a team of accountants and an accounting clerk.
• Maintain GAAP accounting standards and integrity of financial data.
• Generate reports for senior management.
• Lead annual audits, tax returns, and financial statement preparation.
• Manage fixed assets and financial schedules.
• Ensure compliance with departmental protocols and procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service and team leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (Master's degree preferred).
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) desirable.
• Minimum of four years' managerial experience in accounting or finance.
• Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Non-profit or higher education experience is a plus.

Location

This is a full-time role based in San Francisco, requiring 100% on-site presence.

Wages and Benefits

Salary range: $90,000 - $110,000 with comprehensive benefits package.
